大島では、人間が動物園のために持ち込んだ

外来のキョンやクリハラ（タイワン）リス、サルなどが逃げ出し野生化し、

大島の生態系や農作物への影響が大きな問題になっている。

On Ohshima, alien animals such as muntjacs, Taiwanese squirrels, monkeys are

damaging the ecosystem and agricultural crops.

例えば、台風で柵が壊れた動物園から逃げ出した特定外来生物のキョン、

約15,500頭の生息が推定される。

東京都では、駆除などの防除事業を実施している。

For example, muntjacs are invasive alien species escaped from the zoo where the fence

was damaged by the typhoon.

They have become feral, and the effect on the natural ecosystem and agricultural crops are critical issues.

There are about 15,500 muntjacs on the island.

Tokyo municipal government is operating prevention and extermination.

人間が持ち込んだ生物が、ここまでの数まで繁殖し、

人間の生活を脅かし、

駆除という作業をしなければいけない人たちがいる。

Animals brought by humans are now in wild in uncontrollable numbers,

threatening people's livelihood.

And those people who have to do the work of extermination.

動物には罪はない。

Animals are innocent.

過ちは繰り返したくない。

Let's not repeat the same mistake.
